Learning by Doing: A Hands-On Take on Research-Based Education & Design Thinking

Training on Research-Based Education & Design Thinking, conducted by Ms Sushma Srinivasan on 21st May 2026. The session was an energising, hands-on experience that moved teachers beyond theory and into practice, using classroom-friendly activities they can replicate directly with students. Methods explored included the Gallery Walk, Stand Up If You…, wallet-making, and creating Ban Plastic posters and slogans, each showing how learning becomes active and meaningful when children investigate, create and share. The training reinforced the idea behind the Cone of Learning: students remember only 10% of what they read but up to 90% of what they do, leaving teachers with practical strategies for research-based learning and design thinking that help children grasp concepts more deeply and hold on to them longer.
